China Sunergy from reporters yesterday that the company has recently signed and the European REC value of more than 400 million U.S. dollars of silicon supply contracts. This means that plagued photovoltaic components manufacturers of raw materials bottlenecks will be eased temporarily.
It is learnt that, China Sunergy the company signed with the European REC seven-year period of 156 high-quality single-crystal silicon supply contracts, contracts for the 2009 -2015 period, the total contract amount is estimated more than 400 million U.S. dollars. China Sunergy believe that with the new supplier partners, will reduce its reliance on the spot market silicon, thus easing the recent high cost of silicon the pressure on profits.
Data show that in 2006 the global solar cell production of 2521 MW, of which crystalline silicon solar cells 2132 MW, polysilicon consumption of about 23,000 tons, accounting for the total demand for polysilicon 45,000 tons of 50 percent. And that the global output of 37,000 tons polysilicon, the market shortfall of about 8,000 tons. If the solar cell production capacity was calculated, then the greater the numerical gap.
